Mental Health Assistant – Primary School (Redbridge)

About the role
We are looking for a compassionate Mental Health Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Redbridge. The role starts in September 2026 and runs full‑time until July 2027, providing vital emotional support to pupils so they can thrive academically and socially.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver individual and small‑group interventions that promote wellbeing and resilience.
- Support pupils throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help children develop effective coping strategies.
- Liaise with teachers, families and the pastoral team to ensure consistent support.
- Create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and understood.
Required profile
- Experience working with children or young people who have emotional or behavioural needs, or a recent graduate eager to gain hands‑on experience.
- Patience, empathy and a calm approach in challenging situations.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
Required skills
What we offer
- Daily pay of £92‑£120, dependent on experience.
- Full‑time, fixed‑term contract from September 2026 to July 2027.
