Mental Health Assistant – Support Young People in Maidenhead

About the role
The school is looking for a compassionate Mental Health Assistant to work with children and young people aged 4‑18 who experience social, emotional and behavioural challenges. You will join a therapeutic team and receive extensive training while supporting pupils to engage in learning and develop emotional regulation skills.
Key responsibilities
- Assist students with daily emotional and behavioural needs in classroom and playground settings.
- Support the implementation of therapeutic interventions under the guidance of psychologists and SEN professionals.
- Help develop and deliver activities that promote confidence, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and liaise with teachers and therapists.
Required profile
- Recent graduate in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or a related field.
- Strong empathy, resilience and a proactive attitude.
- Interest in child development, mental health and special educational needs.
Required skills
- Excellent communication and listening abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic understanding of mental health concepts and therapeutic approaches.
