About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Mental Health Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Wokingham. The role involves supporting children and young people who experience mental health, emotional and behavioural difficulties, including SEMH, anxiety, ADHD, ASD and learning challenges.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning.
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and using positive behaviour strategies.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to foster a safe and inclusive environment.
- Contribute to creating a calm, safe and inclusive learning atmosphere throughout the school.
- Assist pupils both inside the classroom and in other school settings as required.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience working with children, young people or adults who have mental health, SEN or behavioural needs.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and support emotional regulation using positive behaviour strategies.
