About the role
The Mobile Service Engineer will travel to customer sites in Rugby and the surrounding region to perform routine servicing, inspections and repairs on a range of heavy equipment, including distribution tractors, ro‑ro tractors, sea‑port machinery and aircraft ground support equipment. The role is field‑based, requires independent working, strict adherence to health & safety standards and accurate reporting of all activities.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out visual and operational checks to identify worn, dirty or maladjusted parts.
- Use technical manuals and diagnostic techniques to locate and repair defective components.
- Perform thorough inspections of accident‑damaged machines and produce detailed repair reports.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for parts used on each job.
- Obtain customer sign‑off and purchase order numbers for completed work.
- Follow manufacturer instructions and company Safe System of Work procedures.
- Adhere to all company and site Health & Safety requirements at all times.
- Attend required training courses and keep company equipment clean and secure.
- Be available for out‑of‑hours call‑outs and work away from home when required.
Required profile
- Professional appearance and high technical standards when representing the service department.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a service team while often operating independently.
- Strong commitment to health & safety and willingness to follow all safety protocols.
- Flexibility to work additional hours, including unsociable periods, to meet customer needs.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and work without on‑site workshop facilities when necessary.
