New Business Property and Casualty Underwriter

About the role

We are looking for an experienced New Business Property & Casualty Underwriter to join our high‑performing underwriting team in Manchester. In this role you will assess and underwrite new business opportunities, drive profitable growth, and build strong relationships with brokers and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite new Property & Casualty insurance business in line with underwriting appetite and guidelines.
• Evaluate risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing solutions.
• Work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to gather information and negotiate business opportunities.
• Stay informed of market developments, emerging risks, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders to support business growth and retention.
• Ensure all underwriting activity complies with company policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Property & Casualty underwriting with a focus on new business development and risk assessment.
• Sound understanding of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, and market dynamics.
• Strong analytical and judgement skills to assess complex risks and make confident underwriting decisions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence outcomes with brokers and stakeholders.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Proficiency in insurance systems and Microsoft Office applications with strong attention to detail.
• Relevant professional qualification such as ACII is desirable, but candidates working towards qualification are also considered.
