Nursery Nurse (EYFS Teaching Assistant)

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a vibrant primary school in Wigan for a Nursery Nurse to support Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) children. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help create a nurturing environment that promotes early literacy, numeracy and social development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate EYFS lessons.
• Provide daily care, supervision and emotional support for EYFS pupils.
• Work one‑to‑one and in small groups to develop basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Help plan and prepare play‑based learning activities that encourage social development.
• Monitor and record children’s progress, sharing feedback with teachers and parents.
• Foster positive relationships to ensure children feel secure, happy and confident.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in an EYFS setting.
• Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years Education, or equivalent.
• Good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and child development principles.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with children, parents and staff.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine passion for early childhood education.
