Online Assistant

About the role

As an Online Assistant you will support Sainsbury’s customers by preparing their online orders for delivery. You’ll work in a fast‑paced store environment, using digital tools to pick items, handle substitutions and ensure a smooth hand‑over to delivery drivers.

Key responsibilities

• Pick and select high‑quality products for online orders, providing suitable substitutions when items are out of stock.
• Use a handheld device to follow a store route, track picking time and complete each order efficiently.
• Assist customers with queries, process orders and help load delivery vans.
• Maintain a clean, organised store area and ensure accurate order fulfilment.
• Work flexibly across different store zones as needed.

Required profile

• Willingness to start early (shifts often begin at 4 am) and work in a physical, high‑energy environment.
• Friendly, customer‑focused attitude with a genuine enthusiasm for helping shoppers.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable using digital devices and handling items up to 15 kg.
• Attention to detail and commitment to keeping the store tidy.
