Paralegal – Insurance Defence Litigation (Team 9)

About the role

Join a specialist insurance defence litigation team in Belfast, working alongside experienced file handlers and qualified solicitors. You will support the progression of matters through discovery, quantum analysis, liaising with counsel and experts, trial preparation and legal research. The role is suitable for both seasoned paralegals and recent graduates looking to build a legal career.

Key responsibilities

• Assist qualified solicitors with caseloads, ensuring files are completed in line with client instructions and commercial objectives.
• Draft pleadings, review discoverable material and progress discovery matters.
• Conduct legal research, monitor evolving case law and procedural nuances.
• Take informal and formal witness statements for investigation matters.
• Prepare trial bundles and support clients and witnesses in trial preparation.
• Analyse quantum evidence, create chronologies and identify anomalies across medical and medico‑legal reports.
• Instruct counsel and medico‑legal experts by compiling briefs and instruction letters.
• Manage daily task lists, prioritize work, meet deadlines and adhere to service level agreements.
• Utilise the case management system for efficient file supervision, accurate reporting and financial hygiene.

Required profile

• Law degree (or equivalent legal qualification).
• No prior experience required – suitable for graduates.
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and research abilities.
• Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Commitment to achieving agreed targets and service level agreements.
