Part-Time Assistant Manager – Level 1 (Retail)

About the role

We’re looking for music and pop‑culture fanatics to help create the best experience for our customers. As a Hot Topic Part‑Time Assistant Manager – Level 1 you’ll support the store leadership team in delivering an outstanding shopping experience and meeting sales targets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an amazing shopping experience that encourages repeat visits, using product knowledge and customer‑service skills.
• Cover the sales floor and step in to lead when the manager is unavailable.
• Open and close the store, operate the cash register, process transactions and promote add‑on sales through BOPIS and curbside pickup.
• Monitor sales plans, key performance indicators such as UPT and ADT, and assist with meeting targets.
• Execute planogram changes, adjust merchandising mixes and maintain visual standards.
• Communicate fashion and music trend information to management and corporate partners.
• Help prevent theft and ensure loss‑prevention procedures are followed.
• Maintain an organized stockroom and tidy sales floor.
• Develop and retain a collaborative, passionate team to run the store.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Store Leader.

Required profile

• At least one year of retail store experience.
• Passion for music and pop‑culture merchandise.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 50 lb.

Required skills

• Operation of POS systems and cash registers.
• Knowledge of BOPIS and curbside pickup processes.
• Understanding of sales KPIs such as units per transaction (UPT) and average transaction value (ADT).
• Planogram merchandising and visual display setup.
