Part‑time 1‑to‑1 Tutor (Maths, English, Science) – Chelmsford

About the role
Prospero Teaching is seeking enthusiastic part‑time tutors to deliver one‑to‑one tuition for children in care, pupils with special educational needs, and excluded students in Chelmsford and surrounding areas. You will teach core subjects – Maths, English and Science – across all key stages, either during school hours or after‑school/weekends.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personalised 1:1 lessons in Maths, English and Science.
- Adapt teaching methods to lower‑level learners and manage behavioural or SEN challenges.
- Deliver sessions in a variety of settings such as the pupil’s home, care home or local library.
- Work Monday‑Friday, approximately three hours per day, on an ongoing basis.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) preferred.
- Degree level in the relevant subject area.
- Experience working with children with SEMH, LAC or other SEN difficulties is advantageous.
- Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (child‑barred) certificate.
- Two recent professional references covering the last two years.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of Maths, English and Science curricula.
- Ability to tailor lessons for pupils with special educational needs.
- Experience motivating and engaging learners with diverse backgrounds.
