Part‑Time School Caretaker (Ilford)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable part‑time caretaker to support a vibrant school near Ilford, East London. The role involves two days per week, providing a safe, clean and well‑maintained environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lock up the site, set the alarm and conduct weekly fire alarm checks.
• Perform general repairs, unblock sinks and toilets, and fix doors, windows and hardware.
• Carry out painting, decorating, replace toilet seats, install shelves and pin boards.
• Conduct daily health‑and‑safety inspections and oversee contractors on site.
• Provide porterage services, move furniture and deliver parcels.
• Maintain grounds, pick litter, sweep leaves, empty bins and replenish supplies such as soap and hand sanitizer.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role is preferred.
• Physical ability to perform handyperson duties.
• Good organisational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong sense of responsibility.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
