Personal Advisor – Supporting Young People in Wythenshawe

About the role

Join the Leaving Care, Children’s & Education Services team in Manchester to help young people transition to independent adulthood. As a Personal Advisor you will provide practical support, guidance and coordination of services to ensure vulnerable residents are prepared for life after care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload, maintain accurate case records and complete statutory recordings.
• Contribute to Pathway Plan assessments and provide ongoing reviews.
• Assess young people resuming education, training or other support needs after age 21.
• Promote welfare, ensuring the views and wishes of young people are central to assessments and plans.
• Provide advice, practical assistance and coordinate service provision.
• Identify, supervise and deliver support packages for community‑living young people.
• Assist with financial support and develop financial management skills.
• Support access to appropriate accommodation.
• Work collaboratively with a range of agencies for an integrated response.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Analytical ability to engage with stakeholders and identify information needs.
• Effective planning, organisation and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Competent administrative and IT skills for maintaining systems.
• Understanding of the Children Act 1989, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and related legislation.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Flexibility to work between 08:00‑20:00, Monday‑Friday.
