Personal Tax Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Personal Tax Accountant to join the Private Client team of a respected legal practice in Bournemouth. You will provide specialist tax advice and support to high‑net‑worth individuals, trusts and estates, ensuring compliance with UK tax legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary contact for clients, beneficiaries, trustees and executors, delivering a positive client experience.
• Coordinate and obtain information for income tax and capital gains tax compliance, meeting all filing deadlines.
• Register clients for self‑assessment, prepare and submit Self‑Assessment Tax Returns and repayment claims for individuals, trusts and estates.
• Communicate with HMRC to resolve tax liabilities, interest and penalties, and to secure appropriate repayments.
• Prepare trust accounts, tax certificates for beneficiaries, and support capital gains tax calculations for property and investment transactions.
• Liaise with residential property and other fee‑earners to provide comprehensive tax advice.

Required profile

• Proven experience in personal tax, self‑assessment returns and trust accounting.
• Strong knowledge of UK income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax rules.
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and maintain high accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients, HMRC and internal teams.
