Personal Tax Manager – Private Client (Hybrid)

About the role

This is a senior private‑client tax position based in St Albans, offering a hybrid working model. You will manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, providing both compliance and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of UK‑based personal tax clients, including international elements such as non‑UK trusts and residency matters.
• Prepare, review and file personal tax returns accurately and on time.
• Act as the primary day‑to‑day contact for clients, delivering high‑quality service and handling routine correspondence.
• Support senior managers and partners on advisory projects, including inheritance tax planning and pension changes.
• Attend client meetings, take notes and coordinate follow‑up actions within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Liaise with third‑party advisers to gather information for compliance and advisory work.
• Conduct technical research, respond to HMRC enquiries and manage Digital Disclosure Facility submissions.
• Monitor budgets, billing and chargeability while contributing to team knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• CTA qualified.
• Minimum of 4 years private‑client tax experience.
• Strong organisational, technical, interpersonal and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CCH tax software packages.
• Experience using SharePoint for document management.
