Personal Tax Senior – Compliance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Personal Tax Senior to join a friendly, well‑established accountancy practice in London. You will own a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients, providing high‑quality advice and ensuring compliance deadlines are met.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of individuals, landlords, directors, sole traders and high‑net‑worth clients.
• Prepare and review Self‑Assessment, partnership and trust tax returns, as well as P11Ds and PSA calculations.
• Calculate tax liabilities, advise on payments and compliance requirements.
• Handle HMRC correspondence, enquiries and client queries.
• Identify tax planning opportunities in Capital Gains Tax, residency and Inheritance Tax.
• Collaborate with accounts and outsourcing teams to gather information efficiently.
• Support and develop junior team members through training and review.
• Contribute to improvements in internal processes, systems and templates.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a personal tax portfolio within a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of Self‑Assessment, Capital Gains Tax and personal tax compliance.
• Experience dealing with HMRC enquiries and complex personal tax matters.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical tax issues in plain English.
• Confidence to manage client relationships from initial contact through to completion.

Required skills

• TaxCalc (or similar tax software) proficiency.
