Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer

About the role

The Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer supports the delivery of pharmacy services across Queens Hospital Burton‑on‑Trent, ensuring timely supply of medicines and stock to clinical areas.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the topping‑up service to wards and departments.
• Participate in the ad‑hoc supply of stock items to wards and departments.
• Supply and distribute pharmaceuticals to wards and departments.
• Receive goods, check delivery documents, record batch numbers and expiry dates, and enter details into the pharmacy stock control system.
• Ensure products are stored in the correct areas.
• Perform waste management and disposal of returned medicines, including hazardous items.
• Conduct regular stock checks.
• Provide customer‑focused service to Trust staff at the hatch or receipt area.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 2 pharmacy qualification (advantageous but not essential; training provided).
• Ability to work the 8:15 am – 4:15 pm shift.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety and regulatory procedures.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with Trust staff.

Required skills

• Use of pharmacy stock control system for recording batch numbers, expiry dates and stock movements.
