Plant Fitter – Mobile Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Plant Fitter to join our mobile service team based in Exeter. The role involves travelling across the South West to service, maintain and prepare construction plant for hire, ensuring equipment is safe and operational.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing, checks and preventative maintenance on a range of construction machinery.
• Carry out fluid top‑ups, fit replacement parts and conduct basic repairs.
• Report faults and support larger repair jobs when required.
• Prepare machines for hire and ensure they meet safety standards.
• Optionally install GPS units, cameras and other safety systems following training.

Required profile

• Solid mechanical knowledge and understanding of RAMS.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication and time‑management skills.
• Proactive attitude with initiative.
• Legal right to work in the UK and a full driving licence.

Required skills

• Mechanical systems knowledge.
• Hydraulic systems knowledge.
• Experience with heavy plant equipment (beneficial).
• Installation of GPS, camera and safety systems (training provided).
• NVQ Level 3 in plant maintenance (nice to have).
