About the role
Prospero Teaching is recruiting a full‑time Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Thamesmead, SE28. The role starts in September and runs until the end of the academic year in July 2027, with the possibility of extension or a permanent offer based on performance.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) in Key Stage 1 and 2.
- Deliver tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour.
- Assist with classroom management and ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
- Participate in safeguarding duties and follow the school’s policies.
Required profile
- Minimum one year experience working with Key Stage 1 or 2 pupils in the UK.
- Current safeguarding training completed within the last year.
- Experience supporting children with ASD and EBD.
- Strong passion for working with children with special educational needs.
- Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional references covering the last two years.
Required skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
