Primary Teacher (KS1) – Year 2

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with respected primary schools in Brent to recruit an experienced Year 2 teacher for September 2026. The role can be full‑time or part‑time, offering flexibility to suit your availability. You will lead KS1 learning, guiding pupils through reading, writing and mathematics while preparing them for statutory assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver KS1 curriculum for Year 2, focusing on reading, writing and mathematics.
• Use assessment data to monitor progress, adapt planning and provide targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, SENCO and EAL specialists to support SEND and EAL learners.
• Maintain high expectations, manage behaviour and uphold classroom routines.
• Contribute to shared year‑group planning to ensure consistency and manageable workload.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
• Experience teaching KS1, preferably in Year 1 or Year 2.
• Knowledge of KS1 statutory teacher assessments and moderation processes.
• Strong phonics and early reading expertise, including systematic synthetic phonics.
• Ability to use assessment data for planning, grouping and intervention.
• Experience differentiating for SEND, EAL and mixed‑ability classes.
• Positive, consistent approach to behaviour management.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
