Principal Building Control Surveyor

About the role

As a Principal Building Control Surveyor you will join Sweco Building Control’s expert team, delivering high‑quality building regulation services across England and Wales. You will work on a variety of projects, balancing office, site and client interaction in a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of projects and conduct plan checks for Building Regulation approval.
• Carry out site visits, produce detailed reports and witness tests (full, valid driving licence required).
• Attend client and design team meetings to provide professional building control advice.
• Use and maintain Sweco’s management and Quality Management systems.
• Ensure projects meet commercial requirements, including cost and programme targets.

Required profile

• Qualified building control professional with RBI registration.
• Strong experience in building control and plan checking.
• Accreditation such as RICS, CABE, CIOB or equivalent.
• Creative problem‑solving mindset and proactive client relationship approach.
