Principal Geotechnical Engineer

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead a varied portfolio of geotechnical projects within a well‑established multidisciplinary consultancy. You will work across infrastructure, commercial, residential and energy developments, delivering projects from initial ground investigation through to detailed design and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical projects from tender stage through to completion.
• Plan, specify and supervise ground investigations.
• Produce and review geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations.
• Undertake analysis of foundations, retaining structures, earthworks and slope stability.
• Provide technical guidance and mentor graduate and intermediate engineers.
• Liaise directly with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Prepare fee proposals and support business development activities.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high technical standard.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline.
• Chartered status or working towards chartership.
• Strong background in geotechnical design and ground investigations.
• Experience managing projects and maintaining client relationships.
• Excellent technical reporting and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
