Product and Process Improvement Engineer

About the role

The Product and Process Improvement Engineer will join a well‑established manufacturing business in North Manchester. Working closely with production, operations and technical teams, you will support daily engineering activity, problem solving and continuous improvement across fast‑paced processes. The role is hands‑on, involves occasional travel to other sites and offers exposure to multi‑site collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Apply Lean and Continuous Improvement principles to review processes, equipment and manufacturing capability for efficiency and performance gains.
• Collaborate with the operations team to troubleshoot issues and enhance production processes.
• Interpret technical and operational data to drive informed decisions.
• Optimise processes for productivity, sustainability and overall efficiency.
• Design, execute and report on innovative process development trials and simulations.
• Improve product profit margins through quality enhancements and raw‑material evaluations.
• Select, manage and control contractors on projects while maintaining zero tolerance for environmental or health‑and‑safety incidents.
• Work closely with other Process Engineers, maintenance and production staff across the site.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Chemical.
• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment using problem‑solving techniques and improvement methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present confidently at all organisational levels.
• Demonstrated capability to lead projects of varying size with a practical, interactive approach.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office suite is desirable.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
