Production Engineer (Electronics)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Production Engineer to join our electronics manufacturing team in Chelmsford. You will play a key part in improving production processes, supporting new product introductions and driving continuous improvement across a range of high‑tech products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and optimise manufacturing processes for electronic assemblies.
• Diagnose line‑side faults, conduct structured analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including process validation and production readiness.
• Create and maintain work instructions, process flows and configuration control documents.
• Select, install and optimise production equipment and tooling.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
• Analyse designs to ensure DFM/DFA compliance and update SOPs.
• Write and review process FMEAs, control plans and risk assessments.

Required profile

• Degree, HND or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Proven ability to apply process‑improvement and problem‑solving methodologies.
• Strong capability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and manufacturing documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
