Production Team Leader - Backshift

About the role

Albert Bartlett, a family-run business founded in 1948 with a 75-year history in the UK potato industry, is looking for a Production Team Leader to lead its evening (backshift) operations. The role keeps high-volume production lines running safely and efficiently, and suits someone who enjoys developing people.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a team of production operatives during the backshift, supporting training, coaching and skills development
• Oversee production so targets are met, workflow stays efficient and product quality meets company and customer expectations
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, support quality control and escalate issues promptly
• Keep the workplace clean, safe and well organised
• Respond to operational challenges, use shift performance data to recommend improvements and work with management on best practice
• Act as the link between production staff and management, keep communication open and support smooth handovers between shifts

Required profile

• Experience as a Production Team Leader, Line Leader, Shift Leader or similar manufacturing leadership role
• Understanding of production processes, quality control measures and safety regulations (food manufacturing experience preferred)
• Strong leadership qualities and proven problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work regular backshift hours
