Programmed Work Caretaker – Temporary (6 months)

About the role

Join the Estate Services Team as a Programmed Work Caretaker, responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of council housing properties. This temporary six‑month role ensures standards are met and provides a safe, pleasant environment for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Perform internal and external cleaning across council estates to meet agreed standards.
• Remove bulky items, address fly‑tipping, and conduct deep cleaning of bin areas and graffiti removal.
• Clean communal windows up to the third floor according to the scheduled programme.
• Operate light goods vehicles and maintain machinery for effective service delivery.
• Collaborate with contractors, utility companies and internal teams to enhance service quality.
• Report environmental concerns and support prevention of fly‑tipping, graffiti and anti‑social behaviour.
• Attend training sessions and contribute to the development of service plans.

Required profile

• Reasonable level of literacy and numeracy.
• Valid clean UK driving licence.
• Experience in a service‑delivery environment, preferably within the public sector.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks and lift heavy items.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Comfortable using mobile devices for work‑related tasks.

Required skills
