Project Controls Lead – Data Centre

About the role

Soben is looking for a senior Project Controls Lead to drive integrated controls for large‑scale, mission‑critical data centre projects. You will join the global delivery team, work closely with clients, and travel regularly to Norway to provide on‑site leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end project controls delivery for major data centre programmes, aligning time, cost, quality and scope.
• Act as the senior point of contact for project controls matters with clients, ensuring clear communication and trusted partnerships.
• Oversee cost, schedule, change control, risk registers, baseline management and performance tracking.
• Drive integrated governance, reporting and performance management across multiple workstreams.
• Mentor and manage geographically diverse project controls teams, fostering accountability and knowledge sharing.
• Provide on‑site project controls leadership during key phases, including regular travel to construction sites.
• Develop and maintain robust performance measurement baselines for accurate progress tracking.
• Identify, analyse and mitigate cost, schedule and commercial risks, and challenge construction sequencing to optimise value.
• Ensure schedule health, cost forecasting, earned value reporting and change control.
• Contribute project‑controls expertise to business development, proposals and client presentations.

Required profile

• Significant experience delivering large‑scale, mission‑critical data centre or hyperscale infrastructure projects.
• Proven track record as a Project Controls Lead/Manager on construction programmes valued at £100 m+.
• Strong commercial acumen with expertise in cost‑schedule integration, earned value management and change control.
• Experience operating at senior stakeholder level and managing executive client relationships.
• Demonstrated leadership of high‑performing, geographically diverse teams.
