Project Manager – Construction (Newcastle)

About the role

MARS Building is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead major construction projects across the Hunter region. Based in Newcastle, you will own the delivery of multi‑storey residential and commercial developments, working with a supportive leadership team and an award‑winning builder.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage projects from commencement through to completion and handover.
• Coordinate Site Managers, Foremen, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Chair Project Control Group and subcontractor meetings.
• Develop and regularly update detailed construction programmes using Microsoft Project.
• Forecast trade and supplier requirements and prepare monthly programme reports.
• Manage project budgets, cost control, profitability and monthly financial reporting.
• Review subcontractor claims, certify progress payments and track variations.
• Prepare tender packages, negotiate and award subcontract agreements.
• Administer head contracts, RFIs, site instructions, variations and extensions of time.
• Implement quality control systems and ensure WHS, environmental and quality compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering multi‑storey residential and commercial construction projects valued between $5M and $50M+.
• Strong track record of completing projects ahead of schedule and within budget.
• Ability to lead diverse project teams and manage subcontractors and suppliers effectively.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Project for detailed construction programme development and tracking.
