Quantity Surveyor – Social Housing Refurbishment

About the role

Connolly Ltd is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Wigan. The role focuses on managing costs, procurement and valuations for refurbishment and retrofit projects within the social housing sector, ensuring efficient and profitable delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and agree target costs, obtaining specialist supply chain quotations.
• Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) reports and monitor commercial performance.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Create and maintain cash‑flow forecasts and cost reporting for internal reviews.
• Oversee supply‑chain approvals, ordering, payment applications and retention management.
• Attend and chair pre‑start and contract close‑out meetings, driving collaboration across teams.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, contract conditions and Connolly Ltd values.

Required profile

• Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a similar commercial environment.
• Strong understanding of JCT contracts and legislative standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with cost management systems.
