Rail Civils Site Manager

About the role

Our client, a Tier 1 supplier to Network Rail, is seeking an experienced Rail Civils Site Manager to lead civil engineering projects across the rail sector. Based in the new Sheffield office, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification, and with a strong focus on quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Manage delivery of rail‑related civil works, coordinating all project activities to meet performance criteria.
• Maintain and develop client relationships, conducting site visits to scope work requirements.
• Liaise with commercial teams and designers to review estimates, final accounts and contractual progress.
• Oversee site teams, ensuring compliance with returns, commercial reporting, quality and safety standards.
• Develop site‑specific management plans aligned with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
• Prepare site documentation and contract plans to satisfy client requirements.
• Secure third‑party access, consents and traffic management for successful execution.
• Identify training needs, conduct site audits and promote a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in reactive and minor civils works or building civils within a railway environment.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic setting.
• Strong understanding of small to mid‑range project delivery.
