R&D Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team in a globally‑operating, market‑leading organisation. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will own the full engineering function from concept through to manufacture, supporting growth across healthcare, defence, aerospace and quantum technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team covering mechanical, electronics, software, physics and systems engineering.
• Oversee technical governance, resource planning and product lifecycle from design to manufacturing, installation and continuous improvement.
• Balance technical excellence with commercial objectives and collaborate closely with production teams on new product development.
• Drive innovation and ensure delivery of both standard products and bespoke customer solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, Technical Team Lead or similar senior technical leader.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Physics or a closely related discipline.
• Strong understanding of the complete engineering product lifecycle.
• Strategic mindset with desire for long‑term senior‑level career development.
