Registered Nurse/Paramedic – Forensic Custody (Guildford/Surrey)

About the role

Mountain Healthcare is recruiting Registered Nurses and Paramedics to work within police custody suites in Guildford and Surrey. You will provide autonomous, specialist healthcare to detainees, supporting their welfare, safeguarding and the wider criminal‑justice process.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments to determine fitness for detention and to support interview, charge and release decisions.
• Respond to acute medical episodes, mental‑health crises, substance‑misuse issues and other health needs.
• Provide healthcare advice to custody staff and liaise with police, NHS and partner agencies.
• Collect and preserve forensic samples, document injuries and maintain accurate clinical and evidential records in line with legal standards.
• Support safeguarding decisions and contribute to safe decision‑making within the custody environment.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) or Paramedic qualification, registered with the appropriate UK regulator.
• Minimum three years’ experience in an acute clinical setting.
• Ability to work independently, make rapid clinical decisions and handle a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to undergo full accredited training in forensic custody healthcare.
