Residential Support Worker – Children’s Homes (Cumbria)

About the role

We are looking for dedicated Residential Support Workers to provide essential care for children living in residential homes across Cumbria. You will work in a variety of settings, helping young people manage emotional and behavioural challenges while ensuring a safe, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent, compassionate support to children in residential settings.
• Assist children in managing emotional and behavioural difficulties, following agreed care plans.
• Promote a safe, stable and nurturing environment for all residents.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care‑planning discussions.
• Travel between homes in Penrith, Carlisle, Wigton, Kendal and Workington as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in residential children’s homes.
• Experience supporting children who have experienced trauma.
• UK driving licence preferred but not essential.
• Willingness to travel up to one hour to different homes.
• Availability for day and night shifts, including long days with sleep‑ins.
• Eligibility to work full‑time in the UK without restrictions.

• Day rate: £15.35 per hour.
• Waking night rate: £16.88 per hour.
• Sleep‑in flat rate: £63.04 per shift.
