School Catering Assistant – Part‑time (12.5 hrs/week)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated School Catering Assistant to join our team at Hazeldene School in Bedford. Working 12.5 hours per week during term time, you will help deliver safe, nutritious meals to children while upholding our high standards of hygiene and safeguarding.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, cooking and serving meals to pupils.
• Maintain food handling and hygiene standards in line with regulations.
• Follow health and safety procedures and ensure a safe kitchen environment.
• Receive, check and organise supplier deliveries.
• Carry out washing‑up duties and keep the kitchen and dining area clean.
• Represent HCL values in all interactions with staff and students.

Required profile

• Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (preferred).
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
• Knowledge of key allergens (preferred).
• Team‑player with reliable punctuality and strong customer service focus.
