SEMH Teacher – Full‑time Specialist Education Role

About the role

Prospero Teaching is partnering with a specialist provision in the Reading area to hire a qualified teacher (QTS) for a permanent, full‑time position starting in September. The role focuses on delivering personalised, differentiated lessons to pupils who have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream settings.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across your subject specialism.
• Support pupils with a range of educational, social and emotional needs.
• Build positive relationships that promote engagement and progress.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
• Monitor progress, provide regular feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with support staff, pastoral teams and families to create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential.
• Passionate about supporting young people to achieve their potential.
• Strong classroom management and relationship‑building skills.
• Confidence in adapting lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
• Willingness to work within a specialist educational setting.
• Teachers from all secondary subject specialisms are encouraged to apply; early‑career teachers (ECTs) with strong placement experience are also considered.
