SEMH Teacher (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)

About the role
Reeson Education is seeking a confident SEMH Teacher to join a high‑expectation school in Barnsley. You will deliver structured, purposeful lessons while maintaining strong routines and clear boundaries for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to academic and emotional needs.
- Maintain firm classroom authority, clear routines and a controlled learning environment.
- Implement consistent behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
- Monitor and record academic progress and behavioural development accurately.
- Collaborate with support staff, senior leaders and external professionals.
Required profile
- Proven experience teaching SEMH, SEN or in alternative provision settings.
- Strong classroom presence with authoritative communication.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour with firmness and consistency.
- Resilient, decisive and practical teaching approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
Required skills
- None specified beyond teaching experience.
