SEN Teacher – Hackney (Start ASAP or September)

About the role

A welcoming school in Hackney is looking for an experienced SEN Teacher to join its inclusive team. The role starts as soon as possible or in September and involves delivering high‑quality, differentiated lessons for pupils with a range of special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual SEN profiles.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, the SENCO, parents and external professionals to develop personalised learning plans.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting strategies to support achievement and wellbeing.
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and emotional resilience throughout the school day.
• Contribute to the school’s SEND provision and share best practices with colleagues.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Moderate Learning Difficulties or other complex needs.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Patience, creativity and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.

Required skills

• Effective collaboration with teaching assistants, SENCO, parents and external agencies.
• Ability to design differentiated, accessible lesson materials.
• Competence in assessing progress and adjusting instructional approaches.
