SEN Teacher – West Leeds Primary School

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEN practitioner to lead a vibrant classroom in West Leeds. You will design and deliver a sensory‑rich curriculum that supports pupils with complex needs, fostering an inclusive environment where every child’s voice is heard.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, resource and deliver a curriculum tailored to pupils with ASD, ADHD, SLD and other complex needs.
• Design and implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in partnership with the SENDCo.
• Direct and mentor classroom support staff to ensure safe and effective learning interventions.
• Maintain a low‑arousal, positive learning space that reduces anxiety and promotes growth.
• Collaborate closely with speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and parents.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with proven experience in SEN or alternative provision.
• Deep knowledge of learning strategies, PECS, Makaton and sensory integration techniques.
• Valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong resilience, emotional intelligence and positive behaviour management.
• Excellent collaborative skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.
