SEN Teaching Assistant (Criminology Graduate)

About the role
A supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Cheltenham is looking for a Criminology graduate to join as a Teaching Assistant. This role offers hands‑on experience working with pupils who have autism, ADHD, SEMH and other additional learning needs, while developing skills useful for future careers in youth justice, social work, or related fields.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Assist pupils with behaviour regulation, emotional wellbeing and social development.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
- Encourage positive behaviour, independence and confidence.
- Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour‑support strategies.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
Required profile
- A degree in Criminology or a closely related subject.
- Genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient, resilient and proactive attitude.
- Ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Experience working with children or vulnerable young people is desirable but not essential.
Required skills
What we offer
- Competitive daily rate of £90‑£105 (depending on experience).
- Full‑time hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.
