SEN Teaching Assistant – Hackney

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in an Ofsted‑rated Outstanding academy located in Hackney. This full‑time, long‑term position starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to work within a mainstream classroom while providing targeted assistance to students with ASD, SLD and PMLD.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with special educational needs.
• Assist the class teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson preparation.
• Support students with personal care requirements where needed.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement and learning through tailored interventions.
• Build constructive relationships with students, teachers and support staff.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour.
• Experience working with individuals aged 2‑19 years.
• Valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK and two professional references.
