SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Chelmsford)

About the role
We are seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford. The role starts in September 2026 and offers a long‑term contract with the possibility of a permanent position from August 2027. You will work closely with teachers and the SEND team to support pupils with additional needs.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with special educational needs.
- Adapt learning activities to ensure curriculum access for all children.
- Promote confidence, independence and positive engagement during lessons.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and communication development.
- Collaborate with teachers, SEND professionals and parents to create an inclusive learning environment.
Required profile
- Genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
- Open to both experienced teaching assistants and recent graduates.
- Patient, resilient and able to build trusting relationships with pupils.
- Effective communicator who works well within a team.
- Initiative‑taker who follows guidance from teaching staff.
Required skills
What we offer
- Daily rate of £92‑£120, dependent on experience.
- Full‑time position starting September 2026.
- Long‑term contract through July 2027 with a permanent opportunity thereafter.
