SEN Teaching Assistant (Psychology Graduate) – Wantage

About the role
This full‑time position is based in an outstanding co‑educational special school in Wantage, supporting children aged 5‑16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism, ADHD and complex learning requirements. The role is ideal for recent psychology graduates who want to gain hands‑on experience in a therapeutic educational environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning and therapeutic support to pupils.
- Work alongside external professionals such as educational psychologists, occupational psychologists, counsellors and speech‑language therapists.
- Support pupils during classroom activities, break times and extra‑curricular programmes.
- Help implement and monitor individual education plans (IEPs) and wellbeing strategies.
- Shadow specialist staff to develop understanding of SEMH, autism and ADHD interventions.
Required profile
- Recent graduate in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
- Passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs.
- Resilient, reliable and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to start as soon as possible (or September 2026).
Required skills

- Competitive daily rate of £85‑£105.
- Full‑time permanent contract (Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑3:00 pm).
