SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist School (Ringwood)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Good Ofsted‑rated specialist school in Ringwood. The school serves pupils aged 5‑25 with complex needs, including autism, severe learning disabilities and communication challenges. You will work in a nurturing, trauma‑informed environment to help learners feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with autism, communication difficulties and complex learning needs.
• Build positive relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and engagement.
• Assist pupils with emotional regulation, social interaction and communication skills.
• Deliver creative, practical and differentiated learning activities.
• Use calm, consistent, trauma‑informed approaches to manage behaviour and support learning.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists and pastoral teams to provide holistic support.
• Provide personal care assistance when required.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Positive, patient, resilient and proactive attitude.
• Willingness to undertake personal care responsibilities.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
• Two professional, child‑related references.
