SEN Tutor – 1:1 Support for Children with Special Needs

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate SEN Tutors to provide one‑to‑one educational support for children and young people with Special Educational Needs across Southwark. You will design and deliver personalised lessons that address each learner’s unique requirements, helping them achieve their academic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver tailored 1:1 lessons for pupils with diagnoses such as autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or learning difficulties.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, adjusting approaches as needed.
• Collaborate with the in‑house training team to ensure high‑quality provision.
• Maintain up‑to‑date safeguarding practices and complete required vetting checks.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, PGCE, SEN qualification, EYFS qualification, or equivalent teaching/tutoring qualification.
• Proven experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Experience delivering 1:1 interventions or personalised learning support.
• Recent safeguarding training (desirable but not essential).

• Strong understanding of SEN strategies and differentiated learning approaches.
• Ability to create a patient, nurturing learning environment.
• Effective communication with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
