SEND Behaviour Mentor – Full‑time (East London)

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Behaviour Mentor to join an alternative provision school in Fairlop, East London. The role involves providing one‑to‑one behaviour support for students with social, emotional and mental health challenges. You will work closely with an experienced senior leadership team to help maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one behaviour support to pupils throughout the school day (08:20‑15:45).
- Implement de‑escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours.
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to develop individual behaviour plans.
- Participate in the mandatory INSET training day on 2 September 2026.
- Maintain accurate records of pupil interactions and progress.
Required profile
- Experience working with young people who have SEND and mental health needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high‑pressure situations.
- Commitment to a full‑time, temporary contract starting September.
Required skills
- Proven de‑escalation and conflict‑resolution abilities.
- Capability to work one‑to‑one with pupils.
- Understanding of SEND frameworks and behaviour management strategies.
