Senior Accountant

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support Business Advisors and manage a portfolio of clients, delivering high‑quality service and meeting agreed deadlines. You will own client work, oversee accounts and tax assignments, develop junior team members and identify opportunities to add value.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client relationships and support Business Advisors, Directors and Associate Directors across a portfolio.
• Own and oversee assignments covering accounts, corporation tax, VAT, payroll, personal tax, P11Ds, CIS, management accounts and company secretarial work.
• Plan, manage and review assignments to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
• Review financial statements for FRS 102/105 and Companies Act compliance.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress, billing and debtors to improve cash flow.
• Maintain high standards of quality, compliance and client service while keeping up to date with legislative changes.

Required profile

• Strong practice‑based accounts experience with UK accounting standards.
• Good knowledge of corporation tax, VAT and company secretarial requirements.
• Proven ability to manage a client portfolio and multiple deadlines.
• Excellent technical, organisational and communication skills.
• Experience reviewing work and developing junior staff.
