Senior Algorithms Engineer – Image Processing

About the role

Our client is an established design and manufacturing business delivering cutting‑edge products to the defence industry. They are looking for an innovative Senior Algorithms Engineer to join the Image Processing team, creating next‑generation intelligent sensing and computer‑vision capabilities for demanding defence applications.

Key responsibilities

• Research, develop and evaluate computer‑vision algorithms for image classification, fine‑grained recognition and object detection.
• Design and improve datasets, evaluation methodologies and automated pipelines to accelerate ML development.
• Analyse model performance, identify failure modes and devise solutions to improve real‑world capability.
• Develop tools and processes that increase automation, repeatability and efficiency across the ML lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers and support integration, testing and deployment of algorithms into real‑time video processing systems.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
• Practical experience developing and deploying ML or computer‑vision algorithms in production or near‑production systems.
• Experience with modern computer‑vision architectures such as object detection, image classification and transformers.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with C++ for performance‑critical systems.
