Senior / Associate Building Surveyor – Hybrid, Varied Workload

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established multi‑disciplinary consultancy to recruit a Senior or Associate Building Surveyor for their Orpington office. The role offers a flexible hybrid working pattern, requiring only one day per week on site, and provides the chance to lead complex projects across both public and commercial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver building surveying projects, including complex schemes.
• Manage projects from inception through to completion, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Provide technical advice on defects, condition surveys, and Party Wall matters.
• Deliver pre‑contract services such as procurement advice and project set‑up.
• Produce high‑quality reports, specifications, and contract documentation.
• Administer JCT contracts across a range of schemes.
• Conduct site inspections, managing risk, health & safety and compliance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Support and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• MRICS qualified or working towards chartership.
• Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering projects across the full lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of JCT contracts and contract administration.
• Good technical knowledge of defects and Party Wall matters.
• Excellent communication and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to manage own workload and contribute to team delivery.
• Full UK driving licence.
