Senior Children’s Social Worker – Kinship (Tameside)

About the role
Our client, a Greater Manchester council, is looking for a Senior Children’s Social Worker to join the Fostering‑Kinship Team in Tameside. The role focuses on assessing and supporting kinship placements, ensuring safe and stable environments for children who cannot live with their parents.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive kinship assessments (Connected Persons/Special Guardianship) in line with statutory guidance and fostering regulations.
- Support and assess extended family members to provide safe, stable placements.
- Complete viability and full fostering assessments, producing evidence‑based reports for panels and courts.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, and professionals to promote positive outcomes and permanency planning.
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to approved kinship carers, covering safeguarding, child development, and placement stability.
- Attend multi‑agency meetings, looked‑after reviews, fostering panels, and court proceedings as required.
- Maintain case records and documentation to regulatory standards and manage risk effectively.
- Contribute to placement matching, support plans, and long‑term permanency arrangements.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum three years’ experience as a qualified social worker.
