Senior Compliance Manager – Institutional Banking

About the role

ANZ is seeking a Senior Compliance Manager to lead its UK Compliance team and support the broader European compliance function. You will ensure the effective operation of the compliance framework across ANZ’s Institutional activities in the UK and Europe, providing independent second‑line advice and regulatory engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical, risk‑based compliance advice to Institutional business lines and support functions across the UK.
• Advise on regulatory obligations, new business initiatives, product proposals and control design.
• Lead implementation of the compliance framework within the UK, including obligation management, risk assessments and thematic reviews.
• Perform independent second‑line review and challenge of business activities, issue remediation and event assessments.
• Support regulatory change implementation and coordinate regulator meetings, response tracking and record keeping.
• Contribute to governance forums through compliance reporting, risk committee input and escalation of regulatory, conduct or reputational issues.
• Oversee UK accountability regime activities such as SMCR, Certification Regime and Conduct Rules.

Required profile

• Significant experience in compliance, risk or regulatory roles within the banking or financial services sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK and European regulatory frameworks, including SMCR and conduct rules.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver clear, actionable advice.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on risk‑based decision making.
