Senior Credit Reporter (Intelligence Origination)
Gain · London
Job description
About the role
Gain, a private markets super app, is expanding its Intelligence Origination team into Credit. The team sources proprietary, transaction-level credit intelligence across live and announced private equity-related transactions, using a data-first model that captures structured intelligence rather than news stories. The role is based in London and works in a hybrid setup.
Key responsibilities
- Build and maintain a network of sources, including lenders, investment bankers, private equity sponsors, advisors and lawyers.
- Conduct daily off-record, high-trust conversations to surface non-public credit intelligence.
- Sourcing high-quality proprietary data points that feed directly into the Gain platform.
- Work closely with in-house analysts and research teams to ensure data completeness, consistency and a structured format.
- Support the expansion of the real-time transaction tracker and contribute to internal market intelligence sharing.
Required profile
- 2-4 years of relevant professional experience and strong knowledge of private credit, leveraged finance, M&A, private equity, restructuring or a related field.
- Experience sourcing market intelligence in journalism, research, origination, investor relations or a related field.
- A background covering deals in private credit, distressed debt/restructuring, high-yield bonds and leveraged loans is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial team.
Required skills
- Cultivating senior-level sources and handling off-record, background-only conversations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building, in person and remotely.
- High attention to detail and speed without sacrificing accuracy.
What we offer
- Competitive base salary and annual bonus linked to performance.
- Private medical insurance, health and wellbeing allowance, work-from-home budget and learning and coaching benefits.
- Flexible hybrid working with 3 days per week in the London office.
- Learning, career progression and coaching, plus an international environment with hubs in New York, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Warsaw and Bangalore.
